Provides hands on patient care (surgical and emergency services) to patient of the Multi-Specialty Clinic (MSC), emergency and hospital patients, ages newborn to geriatric. • Provides healthcare (hands-on) services to patients presenting to the Socorro Hospital MSC, Emergency and/or hospital (in and out patient) for general surgery/trauma ages newborn to geriatrics. • Maintains 32 hours per week in scheduled office practice. • Provides general surgery on-call coverage on a rotating basis with other general surgeon(s) and responds in a timely and courteous manner. • Maintains all necessary licensure, etc. to qualify for membership on the active medical staff of the Espanola Hospital and abide by Medical Staff bylaws, rules and regulations. • Coordinates and assists in providing wellness programs through the MSC to include health education on General Surgery to patient ages adolescent to geriatric, as well as provide inservice programs to hospital/medical staff. • Assists and coordinates in planning/needs assessment MSC and General Surgery services. Maintains communication with hospital and medical staff to include coordination of work activities in the MSC through formal recommendation process. • Assists the Medical Director and Administrator in personnel management functions through formal recommendation, budgetary planning and development and implementation of policies and procedures as relates to areas of expertise. • Current in the field of General Surgery through participation in workshops, seminars, etc. • Performs other functions as required. Job Requirements: M.D./D.O. in General Surgery. New Mexico State M.D. License required. Three to five years experience in general surgery, prefer board certified or eligible. Requires detailed knowledge of General/Trauma surgery in terms of theories and practices to serve as the resource or educator to other practitioners in the General Surgery field. This staff member must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients served.
